Pique assiette is a style of mosaic that incorporates ceramic shards, broken china and other found objects into a design. It directly translates to ‘plate thief’ and ‘broken plate’ which fits the brief entirely as the shards are scavenged and naively placed.
A beautiful piece, no shards missing and no damage to the glass just some wear to the old fabric to the exterior.
