A clay reproduction of the Minoan “Chieftain Cup” an ancient artifact found at the archaeological site of Hagia Triada on the island of Crete.
The original cup is made of black serpentine marble and dates back to the 17th century, it is currently housed at the Heraklion Archaeological Museum in Crete.
The relief carving depicts a figure, likely a young prince or leader, holding a staff. The scene is thought to represent someone with political power giving orders to a guard.
An interesting shelf object, signed Lesbos, Greece to the base.
H: 10.5cm x 9cm across the opening.
